Love One Another

Driving to my sister’s house this afternoon, my car got stuck on the Disney movie soundtrack station on my streaming service. No matter how many times I tried, it just wouldn’t register that I was clicking another station. I just gave up and listened to songs from Frozen, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, and others of the kind. Then the song “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas came on. Then there was a line that struck me.

“You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You’ll learn things you never knew, you never knew”

(You sang that in your head as you read it, didn’t you??😉)

Then it reminded me of my favorite part of the movie. It’s when they captured John and Pocahontas is talking with her father, pleading for his life. She throws herself on him and says “I love him, Father. Look around you. This is where the path of hatred has brought us. This is the path I choose, Father. What will yours be?”

How true this is, especially right now! What a great reminder that we are all different, and we can all learn from each other! And that the path we choose MUST be love. Especially as Christians!

John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the WORLD, that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. ” God didn’t pick and choose who was worth dieing for….we ALL were.

Deuteronomy tells us that God shows no partially, and Roman’s tells us “God does not show favoritism.” For we are all made in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27) And we are told in John to “love one another and I (Jesus) have loved you. Make evert effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14)Make it a point to love someone not like you, and to live in a way that shows them to the Lord!
