Music is my outlet. It has gotten me through some tough times in life. Now is no different. Music speaks to me differently now. I hear things I haven’t before.
One song that I have listened to countless times before has a line that really struck me the other night.
“I am not skilled to understand what God has willed, what God has planned. I only know at His right hand, stands one who is my Savior.”
Such truth. So relevant. I am defiantly NOT skilled to understand why God willed and planned to take my husband at such a young age. And that’s okay. The ONLY thing I need to understand is Jesus died to save me.
And again, another song reinforces that with the lyrics:
“So when it feels like all of this pain is never gonna end. Brought to my knees by all of these things I DON’T UNDERSTAND. I will let the weight of my fear fall like sand. Out of my hands and into Yours.”
Another song, which I have also listened to many, many times since it’s release a few years ago, reminded me of God’s promises.
“If you only knew what the future holds. After a hurricane comes a rainbow.”
Genesis 9:13-15a tells me “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind.”
We were never meant to understand God’s ways. We just need to let the things we don’t understand fall like sand into God’s hands, and wait for the rainbow that will come after the storm.
