Hearts

It’s funny the things that come to mind and the word pictures God uses. I spent the weekend cleaning up the garage so we could move around in there again. I came across our Valentine’s gifts from Rick for this year. He decided to make them instead of buying something.

This first picture, with the darker red epoxy and the tan letters, was his first creation. When it dried and he saw it, even though he liked it, he wasn’t completely happy with how it turned out.

This second picture, with the brighter red epoxy and the white letters was his second creation. This time, he was happy with it, but was unable to complete them by putting a final coat of epoxy on it before he died.

While looking at them, it hit me. This is God’s love for us! Besides the fact that the letters say “I Love You…” then the initials of our names, and they are on hearts…which is God screaming at us right now how much he loves us. But the fact that the first creation of our heart, though it was good, had to much red in it, too much sin.

So God, after we accepted Jesus as Savior, created a new heart for us, one that He is pleased with.

However, just like Rick’s second heart for us, it is still a work in progress, waiting for that final, shiney, polished coat. (Which we will receive when we get to heaven)

It brought to mind Ezekiel 36:26 where God is saying “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you;”

It’s the little ways that God is reaching down to give me a hug during this time that makes me smile, and find comfort in knowing that none of this surprised him, and He knew the outcome all along, and will be with me every step of the way. 💕
